Programme overview

Technology is at the heart of most modern organisations. As well as opening a world of opportunities, technology exposes organisations to a variety of risks. Our Digital Risk teams combine digital know-how with advanced technology to help clients understand and transform their businesses. Our experience helps clients grow, manage, protect and, when necessary, transform their businesses. Together, we shape entire industries by applying the right technological solutions to real-world problems. Your diversity of thought will only strengthen our work within this incredibly varied business area.

We have several work streams for you to experience which help EY clients on matters including assessing technology risks, software licensing issues, contract/third party risks, but also improving their processes/governance policies and establishing future-focused strategies. Across all the work streams, you will be given the opportunity as you grow in your career to lead meetings, identify issues and propose solutions. You will work with, and get to know, senior stakeholders at EY clients up to board level.

What you will be doing

  • Gaining a broad understanding of the IT landscape of some of our biggest clients, including their approach to cybersecurity, data protection, resiliency and software asset management.
  • Assessing complex projects to spot risks and make recommendations.
  • Analysing data, communicating with clients and presenting your work.
  • Understanding the risks associated with emerging technologies, including cloud adoption, the use of Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Automation.
  • You’ll also be expected to be flexible and may spend large proportions of your time away from the office, either working from home/anywhere or on client site as part of our hybrid working model.

Programme overview

At EY, we’re committed to offering opportunities for all. We live in a diverse world and believe our workplace should reflect this. We’ve designed a programme for students in Year 13/S6 (Scotland) and all university undergraduate years, that will give you the tools and experience to support you in your career journey.

Our Black Heritage in Business programme is aimed at raising awareness with students of Black Heritage. It allows students to develop their skills and strengths and meet inspiring members of our EY Black Community.

What you will be doing

Over two days, Wednesday 16 April to Thursday 17 April 2025 (one virtual and one in-person), you’ll participate in exciting activities that give you a taste of life at EY.

You will be:

  • Developing your professional skills and personal strengths – helping you propel your career into tomorrow.
  • Exploring your interests, network with peers and ask questions.
  • Learning from extraordinary leaders who’ve carved inspirational careers, overcome challenges, and made an impact.
  • Hearing from our EY Black Community about the structured support, training and opportunities available.
  • Gaining insight into your chosen business area:
    • Audit – go beyond studies and see how we work with clients from local start-ups to big multinational companies.
    • Tax – hear how our apprentices and graduates are helping us to transform the world of Tax.
    • Strategy and Transactions – explore our teams and client projects to give you a deeper understanding of mergers, acquisitions, valuations, as well as looking at the economic circle of our clients.
    • Technology – explore an environment fuelled by our use of artificial intelligence, cyber security, data analytics and beyond. And develop an understanding of how your passion for technology can solve complex problems for some of the world’s biggest businesses.

Regardless of your chosen business area, our team is dedicated to supporting you every step of the way.  You’ll get to prosper in an environment that enables you to learn, shape and grow. And that’s not all –  if you’re in school, you could have the option to be fast-tracked onto a Business Apprenticeship, and if you’re at university you could be fast-tracked onto a Summer Internship, Industrial Placement or Graduate programme. The opportunities here are endless.

Locations

This is a hybrid programme – you’ll participate virtually on day one and join us in one of our offices on day two across the UK: Birmingham, Edinburgh, London, or Manchester. Please note you will be able to apply to any of our office locations, but we advise you to apply to the location where you would want to be employed in the future. You will then be invited to the in-person office event at one of the selected locations nearest to you. For the in-person event, EY will cover reasonable travel costs for you to get to the office. There are no overnight stays for these events, and we advise for you to only apply to locations that are within a comfortable commutable distance.
