What you will be doing

  • Gaining a wider variety of experience to transform you into a business advisor. One day you could be talking to companies to understand their businesses, the next day you could be developing the audit strategy with the team. 
  • Working in teams we analyse data, consider sustainability metrics, and test business controls to determine whether financial statements are accurate.
  • Gaining exposure to EY and networking with people from different levels of the business and working on live projects.
  • Building your knowledge of our clients and how we support them.
  • Developing core skills in business writing, effective time management, client service and personal brand through structured learning and self-directed learning.
  • Being supported by an EY mentor and buddy across the programme.

Finance Consulting helps to shape tomorrow’s world of working in finance. We work with clients to address mission-critical issues for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), creating value and delivering world-class future finance capabilities, leveraging the EY brand as impartial, trusted advisors. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams for some of the biggest and most recognised corporate brands in the world, applying the latest technologies and analytical methods, to help drive their business performance and digital finance transformation agendas that make a real difference to our working world.

It is a structured four year programme, developing both technical finance skills and practical core consulting skills through on-the-job learning, formal courses and studying.

The apprenticeship will equip successful applicants with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience for a career in Management Consulting.

What you will be doing

Working as part of a client-facing team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in Finance Transformation. Our competency is split into two core Solution Groups: Finance Strategy & Transformation and Value & Performance Management. Roles will typically involve Project Management Support or Data Analysis as a consultant. As you become more experienced and progress, you will expand into supporting with more technical solution group-specific roles.

As an EY Consultant, you will:

  • Manage project plans, take minutes of meetings and actions, and follow up with stakeholders to complete tasks
  • Create presentations and documents, and facilitate workshops to capture requirements
  • Analyse financial data for patterns, trends, and insights, communicating in a meaningful way that aids decision making
  • Support benchmarking and comparison of business operating models to industry and business size best practice
  • Develop core consulting skills through on-the-job experience on client projects and internal work, and structured training
  • Support the design and delivery of a variety of solutions in finance and broader projects through defined EY methodologies, including finance technology platforms, performance management processes and global shared services
  • Leverage digital technologies such as AI, machine learning, data visualisation and data analytics to support client objectives
  • Collaborate with globally recognised clients, the wider EY firm and other third parties
  • You’ll have designated college days to prepare for your exams. Apply your engagement experience and exam knowledge to continuously enhance the value you bring to your projects.

Our Decision Modelling – Business Modelling team delivers a broad spectrum of services from complex transaction-related financial modelling and business planning through to decision support and analytics. When you join us you will have the opportunity to work on projects across the team and will have the opportunity to work flexibly across all areas, developing the broad range of skills required. Projects may focus on any element of the client’s business, strategic, tactical or operational needs. What you will be doing

  • Using specialist modelling techniques to solve challenges for major companies, whilst receiving both on-the-job training and formal training as well as studying for the ICAS qualification.

How it’s structured

  • You’ll attend a two–day in-person event hosted in one of our EY offices in London (7th-8th April), Leeds, Edinburgh or Birmingham (8th-9th April).

Please note you will be able to apply to any of our office locations but we advise you to apply to the location where you would want to be employed in the future. You will then be invited to the in-person office event at one of the selected locations nearest to you.

How it’s structured

Get a taste of the real working world with our two-day insight programme:

  • You’ll attend both days at In-Person events hosted in one of our EY offices in London (7th-8th April), Leeds, Edinburgh or Birmingham (8th-9th April).

Please note you will be able to apply to any of our office locations but we advise you to apply to the location where you would want to be employed in the future. You will then be invited to the in-person office event at one of the selected locations nearest to you.  

For the in-person event, EY will cover reasonable travel costs for you to get to the office. There are no overnight stays for these events and we advise for you to only apply to locations that are within a comfortable commutable distance.

If you’re considering an alternative to university, this programme will give you an insight into the world of EY, and help you decide if an EY Apprenticeship is right for you.


Programme overview

Designed for school students in Year 12 (England and Wales)/S5 (Scotland), you’ll discover more about an EY apprenticeship and the wealth of exciting career possibilities available to you.  

Our Female Tech Futures programme is aimed at raising awareness with female students who are keen to pursue a career in technology. You’ll learn more about our Degree Apprenticeship in Digital and Technology, and you’ll have access to senior role models and gain an insight into the wide world of technology at EY.  

Across two-days you’ll learn more about the work our apprentices do to make an impact to our people, clients, and communities. 

What you will be doing 

  • Take part in on-the-job case studies, business skills sessions, and networking with current apprentices.  
  • Have access to senior role models within the business.  
  • Attend workshops with business leaders.  
  • You could even be fast-tracked onto one of our 2027 apprenticeship opportunities.
